SepTex® against bacteria and mold

GEA Delbag filter solution with antibacterial properties

GEA Air Treatment GmbH, of Herne, Germany, now offers bag filters with antibacterial properties. The filters feature antimicrobial protection as a result of a special, patented production process. SepTex® filters are accordingly highly effective for hygienically sensitive areas such as hospitals and the food and pharmaceuticals industries.

Tests conducted by DEKRA have attested that SepTex® filters demonstrate inhibiting or destructive action against pathogens. In this testing, DEKRA applied the pathogens Candida albicans*, Staphylococcus aureus**, and Legionella pneumophila*** to samples of SepTex® fleece, each 4 cm² in size. After 24 hours, none of these pathogens was in evidence. After only three hours, staphylococcus concentration had fallen below the limit of detection.

Delbag MULTISACK SepTex® bag filters are available beginning now, in filter grades F5 and F7. In addition to its antiseptic action, this filter material demonstrates fire-protection properties in its FireTex® version, which allows neither smoke nor droplets to form in case of fire. As a result, FireTex® filters are effectively suited for applications in which hygiene and safety are critical.

*  Candida albicans is a widespread hospital mold that can lead to serious skin and wound infections.
**  Staphylococcus aureus is a typical hospital pathogen that can cause wound infections.
***  Legionella pneumophila is a rod-shaped pathogen known as the cause of Legionnaires’’ disease and Pontiac fever.
