NIC-base and NIC-place provide networking throughout the supply chain – kasasi and NIC at transport logistic 2017: 9 to 12 May 2017 – Hall B2, Stand 615

Logistics services integrated into a single application

At the transport logistic 2017 show in Munich, kasasi and NIC GmbH, Kempten, will be presenting the NIC-place open service platform for the first time. It allows for the networking of all logistics processes and thereby connects to the NIC-base open telematics platform. As a result, partner companies can also offer their services within one application for the first time.

“When choosing a suitable telematics portal, the integration of data is becoming ever more important for the players in the logistics and commercial vehicles industry. In addition, NIC-place opens up additional user-friendly options which go far beyond simple visualization of temperature profiles and routes: users can make use of services in order to manage their day-to-day work more efficiently,” says Markus Lechner, Managing Director of kasasi and NIC.

In order to develop these new perspectives and business areas, Pete Jendras and Markus Lechner founded NIC GmbH, also based in Kempten, in 2016. The company’s strategy is to offer logistics services through the NIC-place service platform. The telematics data transmitted serves as the basis. NIC GmbH commissioned the Kempten-based telematics expert kasasi with the development of the new application. “We are using transport logistic as a ‘pre-opening’, so to speak. There, for the first time, we will be presenting our future direction to a broad audience,” says NIC Managing Director Pete Jendras.

New target markets

The NIC-place service platform is aimed not only at the logistics and commercial vehicles industry, but also at target markets in logistics. The aim is to offer users a comprehensive range of software modules and services from partner companies which goes far beyond standard telematics applications. To this end, NIC-place is directly connected to the proven and tested NIC-base telematics platform. The partner services are based on the data prepared by NIC-base and are simultaneously displayed within the web application. Markus Lechner: “With a new design and an individually configurable dashboard, NIC-place offers the user enormous flexibility since it can be set up according to each user’s personal requirements.”

These include the NIC-base application which is already firmly established on the market and the NIC-place service platform. Numerous end customers and OEMs use the NIC-base open telematics platform. It offers a manufacturer-independent database which collects all telematics data, amalgamates it and visualises it neutrally in a single application, as well as providing third party systems (e.g. SAP). Every day, up to 1.8 million tonnes of goods are monitored and handled by more than 85,000 mobile transport units in road and rail freight transport using NIC-base.
